Job Summary

SUNY Brockport is currently accepting applications for an Assistant Professor of Statistics. The Department of Mathematics is seeking a full-time, ten-month tenure track-Assistant Professor, to begin August 2025. The department is composed of seven full-time faculty members who have varied interests in teaching and research, and houses two undergraduate majors (Mathematics and Actuarial and Data Science), and a MA in Mathematics. The Department has a strong culture of engaging with students and seeks to recruit faculty who enthusiastically support its commitment to students’ success. We seek a faculty member interested in teaching and conducting research in any specialized area within the domain of Statistics/Applied Statistics. The successful candidate will teach a wide array of statistics courses at the undergraduate and master’s level as well as introductory/intermediate undergraduate mathematics courses; conduct high-quality research; supervise students in project and research activities; advise and mentor students; and participate in service to the department, university, and community.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in Statistics/Applied Statistics or Mathematics/Applied Mathematics accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university.
  • Ability to teach a variety of undergraduate/graduate courses in statistics and introductory mathematics.
  • Ability to develop and maintain an active research program.
  • Ability to effectively engage faculty, staff, and students in a collegial and collaborative manner.
  • Willingness and desire to mentor students from diverse educational backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Teaching experience at the college/university level.
  • Experience mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Ability to develop new courses in areas of specialization.

Work Schedule: Variable - Monday - Friday, 8 am - 8 pm Salary and Benefits: The Minimum Salary for this position is $68,748.
