The Department of Epidemiology, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health seeks a Biostatistician to work as an integral part of a data analysis center study team. The Biostatistician will collaborate with epidemiologists, statisticians, and investigators in a variety of fields to manage and analyze complex multicenter longitudinal data. The successful applicant will contribute to the development and application of statistical methods to advance the scientific goals of a national child’s health study.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • The core responsibility for the position will be data analysis, using a broad range of analytic methods.
  • The Biostatistician will create analytical plans, develop specifications for analytic datasets, create data dictionaries, write and implement statistical programs, and provide statistical consultation for PI, co-investigators and other staff.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are needed to collaborate with investigators from a variety of disciplines and to present findings with the potential to coauthor scientific papers.
  • The individual will support multiple research projects, and must be proactive, resourceful, self-directed, highly organized, and able to work independently and efficiently.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, or related quantitative field.
  • One-year related experience.
  • Demonstrated ability on significant graduate project or additional doctoral education may substitute for experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least one year of experience analyzing longitudinal data in the context of a research study.
  • Experience with advanced methods (e.g., multiple imputation, propensity scores, geospatial analyses, etc.), manuscript and presentation preparation is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Stata, SAS, or R (proficiency with multiple statistical programs preferred).
  • Experience in database software helpful. Knowledge of additional specialized software (e.g. SQL, Python, ArcGIS, M-Plus) welcomed.

Total Rewards
The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of Johns Hopkins University’s salary range for this position. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, education/training and other qualifications. Education and Experience Equivalency
Please refer to the job description above to see which forms of equivalency are permitted for this position. If permitted, equivalencies will follow these guidelines: JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.
